Wedding Reportage

I am adaptable to most briefs but photojournalism, or reportage is my preferred style of wedding photography. I feel that the most effective way to truly reveal events as they happen is with candid shots. Each image captures a brief moment in time and depending on the purpose and narrative of the image honestly reveals human character, emotions as well as interaction between family and friends.

A sequence of candid images can help to create a much more emotive story of a wedding day than just the traditional wedding photographs.

I can shoot sections of your wedding in this style if required (when not photographing the happy couple and the more conventional posed wedding shots) or alternatively I can be booked as a second photographer to solely shoot in this style from a distance with no flash in order to be totally unobtrusive to the celebrations. Whatever your photographic requirements, you can rest assured that my old-school work ethic and artistic eye will capture images you will be proud to share and cherish forever!

Please do not hesitate to contact me for a tailored wedding photography quote or if you have any questions relating to EngagementPre-WeddingDestination Wedding or Wreck the Dress shoots.

Frequently Asked Questions

My prices start at £1185 for a day’s photographic coverage and post-production. I deal with each wedding on an individual basis, therefore all options can be customised to meet your needs.

Firstly, you need to check my availability for your wedding date by using my online contact form. If you like we can arrange a meeting to discuss your wedding requirements. If you are not able to come to me, I can come to you. There is no charge for this consultation. Should you wish to book, simply complete the booking form and return it along with the deposit.

On the lead-up to your wedding day, we can meet to finalize your details. This will allow us to talk through your updated schedule, discuss your ideas and answer any questions you may have, ensuring your wedding day runs smoothly.

That’s up to you, all weddings are different. It works out to roughly 8 hours as I prefer to shoot from the bridal preparations through to the first dance as it tends to ensure that your day is well covered.

Usually within 2-4 weeks, you will receive a link to a secure online preview gallery and a USB memory stick with the high-resolution images through the post.

The total varies from wedding to wedding and can depend on a range of factors. Generally you can expect between 250 and 450 edited images.

I hate posing for pictures too! Posing isn’t natural and I don’t always think it looks natural either. My style is all about capturing the real you and portraying authentic emotion and interactions on your wedding day.

Of course, it’s your wedding day! You will have the opportunity to highlight anything or anyone to focus on of particular importance to you prior to the big day.

The link below is a traditional list of shots, many of which would typically be captured naturally as the day unfolds. Please feel free to peruse it as it may prompt you to think of something that you would like to ensure is not overlooked on the day.

Traditional Wedding Shot List

I do take the more traditional posed family pictures in addition to the documentary and reportage style images. While they may not be as exciting as some of the more informal images, I appreciate the value and the history behind the traditional family portrait. Since each wedding is unique, we can discuss how much time is spent on posed group shots.
