Baby & Family Portraiture
I believe that a great photograph is an emotive photograph, it may make you laugh with delight or even move you to tears. My style is to photograph real moments that tell a story, while showcasing the wonder, joy and excitement of childhood and creatively document growing families from bumps, babes and beyond!
Pregnancy and the creation of new life is simply magical and forms one of the most unique and important experiences in a couple’s or a family’s life. These times, however, just like the incredible first few weeks of a baby’s life can be fleeting and may vanish in the blink of an eye which is why it is so important to visually record them for the future!
Everything from baby bump and family shoots through
to newborn and styled baby portraiture.
For the most sincere lifestyle images that convey the emotions of children and portray real family dynamics I believe that a candid, documentary style of photography is essential. For this reason, I like to keep these types of sessions a little more relaxed. With that in mind, it is ideal for children and family shoots to take place in a familiar environment like the comfort of your home, a favourite local park or even during a fun family activity or day out!
I may provide some direction and interact with children during a shoot, but I prefer to wait and let life unfold naturally. I enjoy getting creative with natural light and artistic perspectives but most of all, I love to capture beautiful moments that your family will cherish forever.

Newborn & Baby Sessions FAQs
Where we shoot is entirely up to you, but the warmth and familiarity of your home is ideal. I can use natural light or create a studio-style setting according to the area available.
Newborn sessions usually take 4-5 hours depending on baby’s willingness to co-operate. Not every baby will want to sleep and not every baby will want to be posed in certain positions. This is why I try to keep these sessions very relaxed and shoot at your baby’s pace. It also means there’s always plenty of time to get baby topped back up and kept nice and drowsy!
Every growing bump’s development is unique but generally the best time to book a maternity photography session is from 6 months onwards.
The ideal time to photograph a newborn baby is usually within the first 5-12 days. Having said that, if a newborn can’t be photographed within the first 2 weeks that’s totally fine. Newborns can be photographed at 4 weeks, 6 weeks or even 8 weeks, they are simply harder to pose as they prefer to stretch out more the older they get!
Newborns usually don’t need to wear anything so bring favourite blankets, teddies and cute hats. I have a small selection, but I always welcome your own accessories too! For early years shoots, do bring a couple of favourite outfits too.
Usually within 2 weeks, you will receive a link to an online image preview gallery. Once you have selected your preferred images it takes a few days to get the images retouched and uploaded to my secure server. You will then be sent a link to easily download the high-resolution print-ready photographs.
Children & Family Sessions FAQs
Where we shoot is entirely up to you. If there is somewhere near home that means something to you, such as a park or favourite part of town we can head there. We can also spend time at your home or in the garden. If you prefer we can split our time between locations or even head out on a family excursion!
These sessions generally take 2-3 hours, sometimes longer. I find that this is the best amount of time to give you a great selection of photographs, and maintain everyone’s enthusiasm!
Whatever you feel best and comfortable in. It is best to avoid anything with strong patterns such as checks, large stripes and big logos as these can be rather distracting. It is entirely up you if you wish to colour co-ordinate but this is not essential for great photos.
I hate posing for pictures too! Posing isn’t natural and I don’t always think it looks natural either. Although there may be some direction during the session, my style is all about capturing your family portraying authentic emotion with real interactions.
Unfortunately in the UK we have to work with the rain. Luckily, the British spirit and a few bright pairs of wellies can make for great photos and you can’t get more simple fun than splashing in puddles! We may spend a bit more time inside than we would do normally but we will still aim to spend some time outdoors.
